Deal Will Add Tools to Motorola Phones

SmartServ Online and Motorola signed a software distribution agreement this month in which Motorola will offer SmartServ applications on a variety of its wireless phones supporting the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition. Motorola said it will begin distribution later this year.

According to the two companies, consumers with Java 2-equipped Motorola phones will be able to download the first application, Forbes.com wireless, from the software store on Motorola's Web site. The companies did not reveal terms of the deal but said SmartServ will generate revenue from a share of monthly subscription and licensing fees.
