Datran Media founder to depart, as company employs growth strategy

Digital marketing services firm Datran Media is seeing some changes at the executive level in a move to scale the business for growth and expansion.

The changes are a part of the company's strategy to grow the business from a start-up to a larger enterprise business, the objective that was at play when Datran chairman/CEO Patrick Vogt joined this past fall. He will spearhead the growth objective, as co-founder Matt Keiser will leave his day-to-day position at Datran, a move that has been planned since Vogt came on board. Keiser will remain a board member.

Datran also has appointed three new senior executives.

Dell graduates Tony D'Anna and Todd Boullion will join as general manager of Datran's StormPost e-mail business line and as president of its UnsubCentral, respectively. Andrew Graf will head up Datran's corporate finance and investment functions. His previous position was EVP of corporate development and secretary and general counsel for Enliven Marketing Technologies. All three new executives will report directly to Vogt. 

The growth strategy is to build on the basic e-mail and ad networking technology offered by the business but to incorporate emerging technologies, including mobile and social networking into its suite of products.

“We believe as technology proliferates in the industry, Datran has to evolve as well and become a broader and more diverse company,” said Vogt. “The founders did a great job in building a company that is founded in best-of-class technology, and now we hope to grow it into a larger scale business.”

Datran already has mobile networking and Facebook products but plans to offer Twitter- and Yammer-focused technologies as well. The firm also will actively pursue growing its “Inbox advertising” product, which is based around serving ads within e-mail.
