DataProse, Transmodus Plan Mail Call

Transmodus, an on-demand check processing and collections provider, said yesterday that it and direct mail service provider DataProse are creating a low-cost phone call notification system that would be synchronized with the mailing of billing statements and other direct mail pieces.

With the new service, called Mail Call, clients could coordinate calls to announce a statement or mail piece before it arrives and as a follow-up if necessary. Other applications include fundraising and membership renewal mailing campaigns.

Testing of collection letters over the past year showed a marked increase in the success of collection compared with letters sent without the companion call, Oxnard, CA-based Transmodus said.

The initial combined service will be made on a limited basis to assess market demand and performance. The application of the service to billing statements and renewal notices will be the focus of the first client trials. The companies plan to begin offering Mail Call in the third quarter.
