Datamatrix ups broker commissions

Datamatrix Lists announced a permanent increase to 30% broker commission as of June 6 on all files, a figure considered high by industry standards.

“We brand ourselves as a broker-friendly company,” said Joe Borelli, president and CEO of Borelli Direct LLC, of which Datamatrix is a subsidiary. “We think [adjusting our rate] is something proactive to do.”

The company's previous commission rate was 20%, a figure more average for the industry.

Susan Price Rappaport, president of American List Council, said the 30% broker commission figure is “not the norm.”

“I'm a bit surprised by it; not that it's not welcome,” she added.

Generally, brokers receive a 20% commission, she said.

Regardless of how it's done, she said ultimately, “What a broker wants is to be appreciated by their clients.”

This increase applies to the base rate on all the company's business and consumer compiled and survey generated files. Borelli said the base rates for lists will not increase, only the broker commission.
