InfoGroup scoops up Experian's business database

In a major move, two database industry competitors are now teaming up, DMNews has learned. InfoGroup has acquired Experian's National Business database and announced the deal to clients on July 7. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the partnership will involve Experian reselling InfoGroup's data.
 

TiVo chooses RightNow for customer support revamp

DVR company TiVo Inc. has named RightNow as its new CRM services provider in an effort to improve customer satisfaction and trim operational costs in its support center. TiVo has 3.2 million subscribers. RightNow is managing the support section of TiVo's Web site, which features FAQs, trouble-shooting, forums, chat and e-mail support and other services. Tivo previously handled CRM in-house.

Qdoba adds mobile to loyalty efforts

A group of 26 Qdoba stores, all owned by Aztec Partners LLC, is expanding its customer loyalty program into the mobile realm with a feature called Qdoba Mobile Rewards. The Mexican chain teamed with mobile loyalty company Tetherball to create the new program. Qdoba Mobile Rewards, which works in conjunction with the chain's existing, "QCard" program, offers rewards, coupons and special notifications to consumers through their phones when they opt in.
 

CognitiveData acquires CMS Direct

Seeing an opportunity to bring innovation to the areas of data accuracy, analytics and marketing databases for the catalog industry, CognitiveData, which was acquired by Merkle in May and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the database marketing agency, is acquiring catalog marketing services firm CMS Direct. CognitiveData and CMS have been working together since 2006, when they formed a strategic partnership. At the time, CMS began incorporating CognitiveData's data accuracy technology into its list processing and data processing environment.

The 6,500-circulation quarterly, PrivatAir — the magazine, is offered on board PrivatAir flights and on all business-class services operated by partners Lufthansa, Swiss International Airlines and KLM, and at some luxury hotels in Europe and the Middle East. It's also direct mailed to PrivatAir clients and subscribers worldwide.

The two companies have been working together on payment and loyalty programs since February 2007. Boutique hotels join loyalty network

Red Carnation Hotels (RCH), a group of 13 boutique hotels in the US, Europe and South Africa, has joined loyalty network ClubHotel. ClubHotel is a paid membership loyalty club serving more than 400 hotels and resorts worldwide. In return for their $150 annual fee, ClubHotel's more than 600,000 members receive reciprocal preferred room rates and discounted dining benefits at all participating hotels.
