MediaBay, Books-A-Million Form Digital Marketing Agreement

MediaBay Inc., a provider of offline and online spoken audio content and products in hard goods and digital download formats, and Books-A-Million Inc., a book retailer, said yesterday that they have signed a broad digital distribution and marketing agreement.

Under terms of the agreement, MediaBay Inc. will supply more than 50,000 hours of spoken audio content on MediaBay will offer Books-A-Million's online customers access to digitally downloadable audio books, magazines, old-time radio programs and other unique audio content for PC-based and mobile playback on portable digital audio players. MediaBay in turn will be promoted throughout the Web site as a "trusted partner" and "preferred partner."

Books-A-Million will feature interactive kiosks and digital download appliances in its stores so customers can access MediaBay's spoken audio content while they are browsing. Books-A-Million agreed to promote extensively the adoption and acceptance of MediaBay's digital download content through online and in-store marketing and promotional methods.

In addition, the companies will jointly launch a co-branded Audio Book Club and will create an audio imprint for distribution in both hard goods and digital downloads of previously published and original print manuscripts.
