Marketing Software Organizes Data From Multiple Sources

Guy Software Inc., Vancouver, British Columbia, has released ParseRat 2.0, which allows marketers to take customer/prospect information from multiple sources and plug it into a single format without re-keying the information.

ParseRat sorts names according to phone number, city/state location and gender. It has a feature that lets firms include salutations such as Mr. and Mrs. in their e-mail, direct mail and telemarketing campaigns.

The program also can search for multiple-word first and last names as well as combinations of prefixes and suffixes.

"You can also use it for international campaigns," said Ed Guy, president/CEO of Guy Software. "You can target Germany, for instance, as it will use words for Mr. and Mrs. in German."

ParseRat can be used for databases, fixed formats and scanned data documents. The program can handle binary, packed and zoned numeric formats that are often used on mainframe systems.

The software has a one-time fee of $50 and runs on Microsoft Windows. The software is designed for people with limited technical skills and can be used to improve printing processes.

"It gives you a picture of the data on your screen, and it's a simple point-and-click application," Guy said. "You may wish to use your output file as input to a mail-merge program, which prints several mailing pieces on a single sheet of paper."
