Mail Order Leads New York BBB Complaint List
Complaints in the mail-order category reached 2,411, up 24 percent from the previous year. The biggest category change was in Internet sales and services, which saw a 73 percent drop in complaints.
"The complaint statistics on Internet sales are encouraging because they indicate a growing level of improved customer satisfaction," said Ronna Brown, president of the area bureau.
The BBB received more than 1.3 million inquiries about New York-area companies last year. Most were done on the BBB's Web site, www.newyorkbbb.org. Home improvement received the most inquiries, with 136,839.
