Insurer Uses Group 1 to Track Policyholder Data

American National Insurance Co. will use data quality solutions from Group 1 Software to improve the accuracy of its policyholder information, Lanham, MD-based Group 1 said yesterday.


Based in Galveston, TX, American National offers insurance to more than 3.3 million policyowners in the United States and its territories, Western Europe and Mexico.


"Under the nonpublic personal information provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, we are required to communicate in writing with our policyholders on a regular basis," said Albert Amato, senior vice president of life insurance operations at American National. "The passage of this act placed increased importance on the integrity of our policyowner data."


American National has these Group 1 solutions: CODE-1 Plus to validate customer address data, MOVEforward to track customers who move yearly, Merge/Purge Plus to identify and eliminate duplicate name and address records and List Conversion Plus to convert data files into a user-defined format.
