Exmplar VP Brian Becker Dies

Brian Becker, Exmplar's vice president of sales, print personalization, died in his sleep at the 2006 PODi Applications forum in Las Vegas this week, DM News</> has learned.


The cause of death is unknown. It occurred Monday night or Tuesday morning.


Becker joined Exmplar in January. The Fairfax, VA, company provides brand personalization solutions for marketers' Web sites, e-mail and print campaigns.


Becker previously was vice president of sales/business development, Eastern region for Touchpoint, a Web-enabled digital communications company. In his more than 25 years in direct marketing, he held positions at Merkle Direct Marketing, ADVO Inc., Decision Base Resources, Claritas Corp. and Donnelley Marketing. He was also a consultant.


"I've known Brian for many years, and I am very sad about his loss," said Jerry Bernhart, president, Bernhart Associates Executive Search, Owatonna, MN. "Brian was well known and respected by many people in the direct marketing industry. He will be missed."


Becker, of Annapolis, MD, was also a U.S. Army captain. He graduated from Dartmouth College and held an MBA from Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.


A memorial will be planned.
