Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, NY, recently said that it has developed the first online master's degree program in direct marketing. The program is fully accredited by the New York state Department of Education, according to Mercy College officials.

"The reality is that many people want to move ahead, do their jobs better and learn more, but traditional university programs don't afford them that flexibility," Walter Neff, director of the Center for Direct Marketing at Mercy College, said in a news release.

The 36-credit program is designed to be completed in 18 months. Most of the professors are senior-level direct marketing executives, the college said. They will be available to students in online chat rooms at preset times.
