Cannes Lions Advertising Festival Absorbs DM Event

The Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival yesterday announced that the new Cannes Lions Direct event would be held simultaneously with the main festival.


The decision apparently resulted from a decline in attendance for the main festival of about 20 percent and demand from direct marketing delegates to be included in the main event, according to reports.


The Cannes Lions direct marketing festival was originally created as a separate event that was to be held June 23-25 in Cannes, France. It now will take place along with the advertising event from June 20-22.


Agencies scheduled to participate in the direct marketing portion of the festival include Wunderman, Leonardo, Rapp Collins, Draft and OgilvyOne.
