CRM Software Firm Buys HotData

Group 1 Software yesterday bought HotData, a software and service company for data delivery and cleansing, for $2 million and 10 percent of all revenue generated by HotData technology.

HotData technology will be incorporated into Group 1's DataQuality.net Web service, which provides address validation, geographic coding and appended demographics. The enhanced DataQuality.net service is scheduled for a summer release.

The purchase of HotData, Austin, TX, strengthens Group 1's position in the data-quality market, said Bob Bowen, CEO of Group 1. HotData gives Group 1 access to batch data cleansing and enrichment and business intelligence from data providers including Dun & Bradstreet and R.L. Polk.

Group 1, Lanham, MD, is a provider of software for data quality, marketing automation and customer relationship management.
