Critical Path Opens Hosted Short Message Data Center in Berlin

Critical Path Inc. has opened a hosted short message service data center in Berlin.

The center will give service providers and enterprises a direct connection to its mobile phone network so they can easily provide content and messaging delivery services.

The San Francisco company, which provides e-mail messaging software and services, said the new data center is based on its InVoke SMS Server technology.

The center initially will allow customers to provide short messages to mobile phones by e-mail or short message/advanced service interface. It also has full support for delivery notifications.

Critical Path also said that through the use of SM/ASI, a range of applications such as person-to-person messaging, voice mail notification, e-mail, instant messaging and chat are available. Additionally, using push technologies, new services such as mobile banking, e-commerce and advertising are possible.
