Coupon Industry Veteran Lillis Dead at 53

Joe Lillis, executive vice president of finance at Cox Target Media, died suddenly on May 7. He was 53.


Before joining the St. Petersburg, FL, cooperative direct mail company, Lillis was executive vice president at Catalina Marketing and a regional president of Advo Inc., two other coupon-distribution concerns.


His previous experience included stints at packaged goods companies, including Phillip Morris, Borden and Sara Lee. He also served as chairman of the Coca-Cola Bottlers' Distribution Council for the U.S.


Lillis was a frequent speaker at direct marketing, retail and grocery conventions.


He is survived by his wife Sharon and three children.
