Cottage Living Ups Rate Base 30%

Cottage Living magazine is boosting its circulation rate base 30 percent with its third issue.

The increase, from 500,000 copies for the debut August issue to 650,000 for the January/February edition, is based on an encouraging response from newsstand and direct mail sales.

"We're proving that the 'cottage' mindset has broad appeal, making Cottage Living a significant mass-market women's lifestyle title," Steve Bohlinger, New York-based publisher of Cottage Living, said in a statement.

Cottage Living represents the largest launch this year from Time Inc.'s Southern Progress Corp. subsidiary. It covers home décor, gardening, food, entertainment and travel. Southern Progress veteran Eleanor Griffin is Cottage Living's editor-in-chief and is based in Birmingham, AL.

Advertisers in Cottage Living's two issues for this year include Citibank, Visa, Levi Strauss, Talbots, Target, Aventis' Allegra, AstraZeneca's Nexium, General Foods International, Quaker Oatmeal, Post Selects, Kohler, Sub-Zero, Toyota Highlander and GMC Envoy.
