Corona Direct Picks Teradata

KISSIMMEE, FL- Corona Direct, an auto, fire and funeral services direct insurance provider in Belgium, has deployed an active data warehouse from Teradata, a division of NCR Corp. The data warehouse provides operational intelligence for Corona Direct's telephone customer service representatives who assist 2.5 million customers and prospects.

The announcement was made Sept. 18 at the 20th Teradata Partners User Group Conference and Expo.

Corona Direct is a Belgium-based direct insurer and a subsidiary of the Belgian-French banking and insurance group Dexia. It serves the Belgian market through the Internet, affinity policy writing and direct marketing.

Teradata's data warehouse delivers strategic analysis to the back-office decision-makers and operational intelligence to the front-line users. It uses data to deliver active enterprise intelligence for decision-making.

To interface with Teradata, Corona Direct developed an in-house Windows-based software application known as Integrated Customer Engine.

Approximately 100 Corona Direct customer service representatives use ICE to access a customer's basic data and their history with the company from all departments such as billing, claims and risk analysis, including customer service.

Teradata made several other announcements at the conference:

--Teradata and KXEN a San Francisco-based provider of predictive and descriptive analytics software, have implementated a Teradata Warehouse, Teradata Warehouse Miner and KXEN Analytic Framework to address customer value and churn at Wataniya Telecom, a Kuwait City, Kuwait-based telecommunciations services provider that provides services to approximately 45 percent of the Kuwaiti market.

--Loblaw Companies Ltd. the leading grocery retailer in Canada, announced a 100 percent increase in the size of its data warehouse and the expanded use of professional services from Teradata,

--Mango a Barcelona, Spain-based multinational designer, manufacturer and marketer of clothing and accessories for women, increased the size of its enterprise data warehouse from Teradata by 100 percent to accommodate the company's rapid growth.

--The Naval Air Systems Command selected Teredata to become a Navy prime contractor, supporting all aspects of a Department of Defense Logistics Data Center. Patuxent River, MD-based NAVAIR is responsible for the definition and implementation of information requirements and information technology solutions for Naval aviation maintenance and logistics worldwide. NAVAIR's Teradata installation is located in a Logistics Data Center.
