Corel, Conducent to Release Advertising-Supported Software

Corel Corp., Ottawa, and Conducent, Sterling, VA, yesterday announced an agreement that will put an advertising-supported version of Corel WordPerfect Suite 8 on the desktops of millions of computer users at no extra charge.

The new software is packaged with interactive advertising from companies such as Oracle, Zkey, Individual.com and Columbia House and is being bundled with more than 10 million new computers shipped throughout the world.

Advertisements for those companies will appear when any of the applications within the software are launched and will disappear once the user starts to work on a project.

Users of the new WordPerfect Suite will be directed to CorelCity.com and CreativeAnywhere for updates and value-added content and services offered online.
