Compaq Kicks Off Weekly Deals for Small Businesses
The company said that the promotion was in response to President Bush's declaration that the week of Sept. 23 be deemed National Minority Enterprise Development Week.
Dan Busse, director of Compaq's SMB Marketing North America, said the promotion will last for the foreseeable future. Businesses with 1,000 employees or less fit the SMB category, though Busse said that larger businesses or individual consumers responding to the promotion could take advantage of it.
Compaq will target current SMB clients and prospects with direct mail and e-mail campaigns. Busse would not discuss the size of the group targeted, but said it would be tens of thousands.
"For the first few weeks of the campaign, all of the people we target will literally be getting an e-mail or a direct mail piece from us alerting them to the special offer," he said. "After we start to build a database of respondents and determine who is most interested in the promotion, our marketing efforts will become more focused."
Compaq also will run an advertisement in USA Today every week for the duration of the campaign.
Those interested in taking advantage of each weekly offer will have 72 hours to do so.
