Compaq Computer Corp.'s new MyMovieStudio Presario 7000 PC, featuring a package of moviemaking software called Studio DV, will be available at participating retailers in March through the company's Built for You program.

With the software available on the 7000 series, some future editions also will feature the consumer debut of DVD-R. This will allow moviemakers to record their creations not only on a hard drive, but also on a DVD-R disc.

The Presario 7000 series includes a package of the latest editing and authoring software for inventive professional-quality home movies.

MyMovieStudio transfers video from a digital camcorder. For editing purposes, the software features a drag-and-drop storyboard that allows users to move scenes, create voice-overs and custom soundtracks as well as develop professional-style titles and scene transitions.

Compaq, Houston, announced that pricing for the 7000 Series will begin at $2,399.
