Compaq Blitzes Yahoo in iPAQ Push

Compaq kicked off an online marketing campaign with Yahoo yesterday for its iPAQ Pocket PC, including prominent placement on Yahoo's home page.

The campaign is designed to give users a virtual, hands-on demonstration of the device. The ads included an image of the iPAQ Pocket PC that rotated 360 degrees. After the device finished rotating, it rested in a box at the right side of the screen where users could click on the ad to buy it, view a demo or get more information.

On Yahoo Mail pages, the iPAQ campaign also will include a streaming movie trailer that allows users to experience the audio and video capabilities of the iPAQ device.

Powered By Compaq buttons are also featured on some of Yahoo's highly visited properties, including Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Finance. The button features a very visible animated Powered By Compaq "Power Plug" treatment.

Yesterday, the iPAQ campaign was the only advertisement appearing in the north banner position and the Marketplace section on the Yahoo home page, while other Compaq ads also appeared on Yahoo Search and Directory, Yahoo Finance, Yahoo News and Yahoo Mail.
