Collegiate Pacific Buys IL Sporting Goods Distributor

Institutional sporting goods supplier Collegiate Pacific Inc., Dallas, acquired Salkeld Team Sports.

Collegiate Pacific, which reported the purchase yesterday, offers 4,500 products via 1.5 million catalogs and about 170 salespeople.

Salkeld Team Sports, Bourbonnais, IL, distributes team sporting goods in Illinois with annual sales exceeding $7 million.

The deal provides Collegiate Pacific with deeper penetration into the Chicago market, Collegiate Pacific president Adam Blumenfeld said in a statement.

"We continue to review a number of opportunities as we seek to expand our geographic coverage and product lines, and to deploy the nearly $40 million in cash and up to $20 million in available credit for the benefit of shareholders," Blumenfeld said.
