Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf readies e-mail campaign

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf will send weekly promotions in celebration of its 45th anniversary to its e-mail database for the next five weeks.

Beginning tomorrow, the “It's our birthday, your party” campaign will offer discounts and freebies every Tuesday. The company will send weekly reminder e-mails each Monday to the 34,000 consumers who have registered for the e-mail list on its Web site.

“We are finding that consumers are online 24/7, and this is a great way to reach our database quickly and efficiently,” said Kat Kirsch, a spokeswoman for The Coffee Bean.

The first Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf was opened in 1963 in Brentwood, CA. Some of the promotions are tied to that year, such as this week's offer of 63 cent brewed coffee.

Kirsch said the company has not previously used its e-mail database to market promotional offerings on a weekly basis, but it may continue to do so if the campaign proves successful.
