The Coca-Cola Co. has appointed CMO Beatriz Perez its first chief sustainability officer, effective July 1. The Atlanta-based company did not immediately name a successor for its lead marketing position.

Perez will oversee the company's newly launched global sustainability office, reporting to EVP and chief administrative officer Alexander Cummings. She will create and oversee Coca-Cola's sustainability efforts and strategy and track global partnerships and projects.

John Reid, VP of corporate social responsibility; Charlotte Oades, global director of women's economic empowerment; Abigail Rodgers, VP of sustainability strategy and communications; Jeff Seabright, VP of environment and water resources; and Lisa Manley, group director of corporate external affairs, will report directly to Perez.

Perez has served in various roles since joining Coca-Cola in 1996 as an associate brand manager, including director of Nascar, VP for sports and entertainment for both the company and its North American unit, and SVP of integrated marketing for Coca-Cola North America.

A Coca-Cola representative could not be immediately reached for comment.
