Who it is: Steve Easterbrook, named Global Chief Brand Officer of McDonald's

What's his role: He will have global responsibility for marketing, menu development, and consumer and business insights.

Where was he prior: Easterbrook, a native of the U.K., was most recently CEO of Wagamama Limited, a U.K. restaurant chain. Before that, he spent 18 years with McDonald's, rising to president of McDonald's Europe in 2010.

Why was he appointed: "I'm thrilled to welcome him back to the Golden Arches and confident that, with his expertise, we will reach customers in new and innovative ways," says president and CEO Don Thompson.

Who it is: John Coldicutt, appointed CMO of Thunderhead.com, a customer experience software provider

What's his role: He will be responsible for all aspects of marketing at the company.

Where was he prior: Most recently, Coldicutt was CMO at Fizzback. He previously served in product solutions and field marketing positions at Amdocs and Hyperion (now part of Oracle).

Why was he appointed: “John is well positioned to help take Thunderhead.com's new solutions to market and cultivate strategic growth for the brand,” says CEO Glen Manchester.

Who it is: Dona Siebler Stohler, named CMO of Healthx, a developer of communication and data integration applications for the healthcare market

What's her role: She's charged with expanding the marketing strategy to better meet needs of current customers, as well as a expanding new business.

Where was she prior: Stohler was most recently CMO of Ice Miller. Previously, she served as VP of administration at American Health Network and executive director of marketing at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Why was she appointed: “Dona brings both a strong marketing and business development background along with an understanding of the healthcare market to our company,” says Greg Bell, CEO of Healthx.

Who it is: Rob Martin, appointed CMO of promotion agency Bensussen Deutsch & Associates.

What's his role: He'll oversee all facets of marketing and communication for BDA corporate and its consumer products division, PowerA.

Where was he prior: VP of Marketing at BDA since 2009, he served in executive marketing positions at two Seattle professional basketball franchises: the NBA's SuperSonics and the WNBA's Storm.

Why was he appointed: “His accomplishments over the past four years have been astounding,” says CEO Jay Deutsch.

Who it is: Marcelo Parravicini, named CMO or ECPI University, a for-profit online and on-campus college in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina

What's his role: He will work to expand outreach to potential students using an integrated approach to marketing.

Where was he prior: He was most recently CMO of Post University in Waterbury, CT, and previously led SEM at Refinery Inc., and was manager of strategy consulting at Medical Broadcasting Company (now Digitas Health).

Why was he appointed: “Through a carefully crafted integrated marketing strategy Marcelo has been instrumental in increasing the University's share of voice in a very crowded landscape,” noted Post University Chancellor Tom Samph, when Parravicini was named CMO there in 2011.

Who it is: David Hsieh, appointed CMO of Ubiquiti Networks, the communications tech company run by Robert Pera, owner of the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies

What's his role: He will be responsible for leading Ubiquiti's corporate marketing strategy and managing corporate communications.

Where was he prior: Hsieh joins Ubiquity from Cisco, where he was VP of marketing for video and emerging technologies. Before that he served as the senior marketing officer at three other tech companies: Evolve Software, LBMS, and WebEx.

Why was he appointed: “Ubiquiti is committed to generating greater awareness around our brand, and David's established technology background and startup-like mind-set makes him a perfect fit for our company culture,” Pera says.
