CMGI Makes Another Internet Purchase

CMGI Inc., Andover, MA, bought electronic commerce service provider Tallan Inc., yesterday in a cash and stock deal valued at $920 million.


It is the second acquisition CMGI, an Internet venture company, has made over the past week. Last week, the company bought online auction site uBid.com in an all-stock deal valued at $407 million.


Tallan will give CMGI an online transaction-processing system and data management capabilities, and will allow CMGI to boost its billable resources by 350 percent.
