Citysearch to Run Overture Listings

Citysearch said last week that it would buttress its local paid listings with advertising listings from Yahoo's Overture Services.

Overture listings will fill out Citysearch's ad inventory for some city guides in categories it has not sold, including home and professional services and medical specialists. The length of the agreement was not disclosed.

The ads will fill in the gaps of Citysearch's local search program, which it launched last June. Citysearch has drawn 25,000 advertisers to the program, most clustered around its traditional strength in restaurants and nightlife. In the first quarter, Citysearch parent company InterActive Corp. said paid listings revenue grew 37 percent from the previous quarter.

Separately, Yahoo executives said Overture would open operations this year in Brazil, Canada, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. This will expand Overture's global reach to 20 markets.
