Chevy takes apps for a spin

Automaker Chevrolet is bringing its showroom to the iPhone and iPad.

The company has launched its Chevrolet Showroom app for the mobile devices, as well as the iPod Touch. The platform allows potential customers to browse the manufacturer's full line of cars and trucks, allowing them to view cars with different exterior and interior options.

The app also allows users to save their car choice to their device, share it with friends by e-mail or on Facebook, search inventory at nearby dealerships and request a quote.

"The Chevrolet Showroom app allows customers to shop nearly anywhere and share their virtual vehicle with their friends," said Jim Campbell, U.S. VP, Chevrolet Marketing. "This is a natural addition to the ways people shop online for vehicles today."

The application also includes a dealership locator, a click-to-call feature, current offers and incentives, a financing calculator and a gallery of historical photos of Chevy vehicles.
