Cenveo to acquire Commercial Envelope

In a move that enhances its direct mail capabilities, Cenveo Inc. has signed a definitive purchase agreement to acquire Commercial Envelope Manufacturing Inc.

Commercial Envelope Manufacturing, Deer Park, NY, is a leading envelope manufacturer in the United States with about $160 million in revenues. It operates five production facilities across the Eastern United States and produces more than 45 million envelopes a day.

"The acquisition of Commercial Envelope is strategically advantageous to Cenveo as it adds considerable strength to our direct mail platform with the addition of their world-class asset base," Robert G. Burton, chairman/CEO of Cenveo, Stamford, CT, said in a statement.

He added that Cenveo intends to continue to make strategic acquisitions of high-quality niche companies in growth areas of the printing industry.

In December, Cenveo announced plans to acquire Cadmus Communications for $430 million, creating one of the largest graphic arts firms in the United States.

In June, Cenveo agreed to purchase Madison/Graham ColorGraphics Inc., a leading commercial printer in the Western United States.

The most recent transaction is expected to be completed in the third quarter. The Kristel family, which founded Commercial Envelope in 1924, will remain with the company following the acquisition.
