Catamount Group Gets Acquired Twice

Direct marketing agency Catamount Group said last week that it was acquired by Morex Marketing Group LLC, which subsequently was purchased by CGI Holding Corp. d/b/a Think Partnership Inc., a Northbrook, IL, entity with 12 operating companies.


Catamount Group offers list management, insert management, brokerage, online marketing and Hispanic marketing services. It will stay in its Bethel, CT, location, and CEO Tina MacNicholl will continue to operate Catamount as a division of Morex as well as serve as that company's chief operating officer.


Morex specializes in expectant and new mother marketing through its "babytobee" sampling and free trial service, which has 4 million registrants. Morex co-founders Lloyd Ecker and Robert Moore will continue to lead Morex as co-CEOs.


The addition of these companies fits with the existing services of Think Partnership, which include online and offline marketing, advertising, public relations, branding and shopping-evaluation services; search engine optimization and marketing services, opt-in e-mail marketing and pay-per-click campaign management; online dating; Web design, custom Web-based applications, database systems, managed and shared hosting solutions, e-commerce and high-speed business Internet access; software for affiliate marketing and affiliate marketing services; and online education. Other CGI companies are MarketSmart Interactive, Primary Ads and KowaBunga Technologies.


CGI Holding Corp. will seek formal shareholder approval to change its legal name to Think Partnership Inc. However, it received a warning letter from the American Stock Exchange on Jan. 27 stating that it did not distribute an annual report to its shareholders for the year ended Dec. 31, 2004. It must comply by March 31.
