Casual Male reports strong same-store gains

Casual Male Retail Group Inc. reported yesterday that sales for the fourth quarter ended Feb. 3 totaled $146 million, compared with $130 million during the same period last year. Same-store sales rose 7.5 percent during the quarter.

Fourth quarter net income totaled $38.7 million, or $0.83 per diluted share, compared with net income of $13.5 million, or $0.33 per diluted share, during last year's fourth quarter.

For the fiscal year ended Feb. 3, the Canton, MA-based multichannel men's apparel merchant's sales totaled $468 million compared with $421 million in the previous year. Same-store sales rose 9 percent for the year.

Casual Male reported net income for fiscal 2006 totaling $42.6 million, or $0.98 per diluted share, as compared with net income of $10.8 million, or $0.30 per diluted share, in fiscal 2005.
