Irving Wunderman Award - 2008 Winner - Holly Pavlika
The Irving Wunderman Award, named after the inspirational copywriter and agency founder, is always presented to someone with more than a decade of experience, and who has developed his or her talent, imagination, curiosity and passion into a creative body of work deserving of the highest recognition.
Holly Pavlika, executive creative director at Big Fuel, falls perfectly into this venerable category. Striving constantly for excellence, Holly has racked up an amazing array of accomplishments in the advertising and direct marketing industry over the years – fromher start at a sales promotion agency while completing a post-graduate course at the Parsons School of Design; her move to McCann, where she handled the $21 million American Express Gold Card account; to her work at two start-ups — Fox Pavlika, which was acquired by Lowe and Partners, and Margeotes Pavlika Direct; and finally her role as executive creative director at G2 Direct & Digital.
At G2, Holly pushed the agency in a new direction, taking it from a direct mail/lettershop to a fully integrated, digital-focused agency. She built the agency's pharmaceutical practice and was committed to bringing in new business – including United Airlines, Xerox, Pfizer and Kraft, to name a few. She joined Big Fuel in February 2009.
Then the awards began to pile in – including Echo New York Festival, ADDY, ANDY and, of course, Caples. She has served on the board of the Caples for nearly seven years and is currently the chair of the first-ever DMA Creative Council.
