Cannes Lions Sets Dates for 2003 Show

The International Advertising Festival, also known as the Cannes Lions, will hold its 50th anniversary awards next year June 22-28 in Cannes, France.


Like this past June, awards for disciplines like direct marketing, film, press, outdoor, cyber and media will be held in that week. It is typical to showcase about 17,000 ads during the festivities.


This time, direct will be incorporated into the main festival. The 2002 format placed the Lions Direct awards after the advertising awards, something that did not go down well with many agencies and attendees.


"We don't have that date, but it'll be within that week," said Angus Geary, a Cannes Lions spokesman. "We're thinking of the beginning of that week [for direct marketing]."
