Cannes Lions Organizer Launches Dubai Lynx Awards for Mideast/Africa

The International Advertising Festival, organizer of the Cannes Lions and Eurobest awards, plans a new contest called the Dubai Lynx, targeting ad agencies in the Middle East and Africa.

The awards will be held in Dubai, a Persian Gulf state that is part of the United Arab Emirates. The UAE chapter of the International Advertising Festival will help run the Dubai Lynx along with the International Advertising Festival, London.

Dubai Lynx's judging will take place in the four preceding days, ending in the awards ceremony and dinner March 19, 2007.

The organizer in early December will begin inviting entries from Middle Eastern and African agencies. Forms will be available then at www.dubailynx.com, which goes live in mid-October.

Two juries comprising international agency executives and leading creative types from the region will judge the two sections of entries. One jury will judge television/cinema, print, outdoor and radio, and the other interactive and direct marketing. Each jury will have a president.

Once the inaugural event is concluded, Dubai Lynx will run in association with a new event called The Dubai International Advertising Festival. Planned for 2008, this event will comprise seminars and other efforts modeled on Cannes Lions to inspire creativity, learning and networking for ad executives in the region.
