The International Advertising Festival, better known as Cannes Lions, promoted Terry Savage to executive chairman after three years as CEO and Australian rep.

He led the annual festival for three years, ensuring the smooth transition of Cannes Lions into British publisher Emap plc's family of media properties. Emap now is looking for a new CEO to head Cannes Lions.

The Emap Communications unit in August 2004 bought Cannes Lions from offshore trust WJB Chiltern Trust Company (Jersey) Ltd. for $96.5 million. The festival's operations are run out of London.

Cannes Lions grew under Savage's watch, particularly attracting more entries in the Lions Direct and Cyber Lions categories. The 52nd festival concluded last month in the French Riviera resort of Cannes, with record entries in the direct and cyber categories.
