Business Objects, San Jose, CA, a provider of e-business intelligence solutions, yesterday introduced WebIntelligence Wireless Edition, an extended version of WebIntelligence 2.5, its query, reporting, and analysis solution for the Internet.

WebIntelligence 2.5 allows organizations to access, analyze, and share information in Intranet, extranet, and e-business environments.

WebIntelligence Wireless Edition, however, expands on that service and allows users to combine their e-BI application with wireless technologies, including products that are equipped with wireless application protocol (WAP) -- an open, global specification allowing mobile users with wireless devices to access and interact with information and services instantly.

In addition, WebIntelligence Wireless Edition is expected to support future adaptations of existing devices, such as phones with larger screen displays or keyboards, or advanced PDAs.

"Business Objects is the first e-BI vendor to deliver a product that offers interactive wireless access to information," said Crispin Read, director of product marketing at Business Objects. "With WebIntelligence Wireless Edition, we once again demonstrate our position as the industry pioneer. We are expanding our product line to reach provide additional access options for different user needs, without straying from our core business of building and delivering world-class e-business intelligence products.''

WebIntelligence Wireless Edition is expected to enter general availability this year. Pricing will be announced at the time of availability.
