Bowne Buys Vestcom's Marketing Division

Bowne & Co. Inc., a provider of financial printing, digital printing and electronic delivery of personalized communications, said yesterday that it acquired the marketing and business communications division of Vestcom International Inc. for $30 million.


The transaction is expected to close early next year. The division will be integrated with Bowne Enterprise Solutions, and the combined entity will operate under the name Bowne Marketing and Business Communications.


Bowne said the merged company will be one of the leading print-on-demand enterprises, with pro forma 2005 combined revenue of $140 million. After completion of the transaction, Bowne Marketing and Business Communications will have 700 employees, with production operations in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington, Wisconsin and Canada.
