BorderFree Offers International Transactions

BorderFree.com is expected to announce today a system that translates currencies and calculates cross-border taxes for e-commerce sites.

Web companies using the system will place a BorderFree button at their sites. Online shoppers can either drag and drop the button on their hard drive for use at all BorderFree-enabled Internet sites or use it on a one-time basis at each site.

Either way, the viewer will be given shipping costs and local currency in real-time. In addition, according to the firm, the system adapts to all Web sites.

BorderFree Inc., Toronto, will be offered to United States and Canadian firms as of today. The company plans to offer the system across Europe and Asia early next year.

"They can use the infrastructure they have and work with us to dramatically open up their markets," said Pierre Schuurmans, CEO of the BorderFree.com
