Books-A-Million to Fulfill Wal-Mart Book Orders

Books-A-Million, the No. 3 bookselling chain in the United States, struck a deal with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., this week to become the exclusive provider of books and related products to the world's leading retailer's online customers.


The Birmingham, AL-based bookseller will fulfill all Internet orders from its Florence distribution center in the same state.


The aim is to make Wal-Mart the leader in the online bookselling industry, Books-A-Million said. The alliance with the southern bookseller is the second online fulfillment deal for Wal-Mart. Last month, the Bentonville, AR, retailer signed a similar contract with Fingerhut.
