Boise Shuts 2 Inbound Call Centers

Paper provider Boise Office Solutions, a subsidiary of Boise Cascade, is closing two customer contact centers and reducing staff at a third, resulting in at least 400 job reductions.

The closures result from a consolidation following Boise's merger with OfficeMax in December 2003. Boise also is shutting 45 OfficeMax retail stores as part of the consolidation, though it plans to open 12 new ones.

The contact centers to close are Boise's facility in Fort Worth, TX, affecting 300 employees, and north Ottawa, IL. A third center in south Ottawa, IL, will be reduced by about 100 positions.

Most of the employees affected by the north Ottawa closure will shift to the south Ottawa contact center or another Boise center in Peru, IL. A number of overlapping positions will be eliminated, the company said.
