Bluetooth Lobby Hires VML

Wireless technology lobby Bluetooth Special Interest Group Inc. hired VML, Kansas City, MO, to design and develop its Web site. The site relaunches in August.

The interactive agency is to overhaul the design of the site at www.bluetooth.com, improving the user experience and undertaking back-end development. VML also will create a search tool to help users configure different Bluetooth-enabled devices together. The tool will help pair one Bluetooth-enabled device with another with the click of a button.

Bluetooth is a technology standard that wirelessly connects cell phones, laptops, cars, stereos, stereo headsets and MP3 players. The technology is in its fourth version. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group includes promoter companies like Ericsson, IBM Corp., Intel Corp., Microsoft Corp., Motorola, Nokia, Toshiba and Agere. It is based in Bellevue, WA.

Other VML clients include AC Nielsen, Colgate-Palmolive Co., Weight Watchers, BP/Castrol, Burger King, Microsoft, Accenture and AMC Theatres. WPP Group, London, owns VML.
