Blue Cross and Blue Shield of FL Goes Online

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida yesterday said that it has begun its first online initiative to market health care coverage to consumers.

The Jacksonville-based company's new Web site, www.bcbsf.com, helps customers who are self-enrolling in Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida's coverage plans. The site also gives consumers information on how to contact the company's customer service personnel by phone, e-mail or live text-chat.

Consumers can use the Web site to contact licensed insurance agents who can send them personalized application packages. Agents can also assist consumers in filling out forms during online enrollment.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida picked Connextions.net, Orlando, FL, to design and implement the Web site that opened earlier this month.

Connextions.net, began planning for the initiative in September 2000, and the company now hosts the Web site and provides customer service and fulfillment.
