Blackbaud Starts New Business Unit for Fundraisers

Software provider Blackbaud has acquired Core Data Services of Denver and has started a new business unit, Blackbaud Analytics, that will focus on helping nonprofits identify their best potential donors.

The two moves allow Blackbaud, Charleston, SC, to combine its 20-year history of providing software and services to nonprofits with Core Data Services' experience in fundraising and donor-based statistical analysis, said Lawrence Henze, founder of Core Data.

Henze will serve as the new managing director of Blackbaud Analytics.

The new unit will use Core Data techniques to enrich data from the client's database and to build custom statistical models that will help nonprofits find "the nuggets of gold hidden in their lists of potential supporters," said Robert J. Sywolski, CEO of Blackbaud Inc.
