Better Homes & Gardens Names New Editor in Chief

Meredith Corp. named Gayle Butler as editor in chief of Better Homes and Gardens magazine, the publisher's flagship title with a monthly circulation of 7.6 million.

Ms. Butler is currently editorial director for Better Homes and Gardens Special Interest Publications and Creative Collection, which covers 240 different issues.

She began as editorial director in 2004, but has worked in the Special Interest Publications area for the past 12 years. She helped to reshape the portfolio and expand it into new brands and categories.

Ms. Butler also produced other products including a line of cooking magazines based on America's Top Chefs; Real + Life Decorating, a know-how magazine for Gen X women; and EAT -- Easy Family Food, a magazine for time-pressed moms.

Ms. Butler lives in Des Moines, IA, and will begin as editor-in-chief on July 1.
