Barclays Bank Picks Teradata for Data Work

Teradata, a division of NCR Corp., Dayton, OH, announced Monday the signing of a long-term agreement enabling Barclays Bank to further consolidate its databases onto a single Teradata warehouse platform.

Barclays is a UK-based financial services organization with operations in more than 60 countries. It is the world's ninth-largest bank by market capitalization.

Barclays Bank will use Teradata technology to reduce licensing and support costs associated with maintaining multiple database platforms, enhance information availability and accuracy and improve the effectiveness of its business intelligence and customer relationship management applications.

The first phase of the project will focus on consolidation of existing data warehouse systems from other suppliers as well as migrating all data from the legacy systems.
