Banta Expands Fulfillment With Deal for Qualipak

Commercial printer Banta Corp. purchased packaging, assembly and fulfillment firm Qualipak Inc. for an undisclosed price, Banta said yesterday.

The acquisition of Lancaster, PA-based Qualipak gives Banta, located in Menasha, WI, a packaging and fulfillment operation on the East Coast. Qualipak is Banta's ninth packaging and fulfillment operation overall.

The purchase is part of Banta's ongoing strategy of growth in its packaging, fulfillment and literature management service lines, a Banta executive said. Qualipak has been in business since 1982, has annual sales of $5 million and 50 employees at its single plant and provides service for the publishing, consumer healthcare and over-the-counter pharmaceutical industries.

Other Banta packaging and fulfillment plants are in Menasha, Appleton, Kaukauna and Green Bay, WI; Harrisonburg, VA; Seattle; Eden Prairie, MN, and Spanish Fork, UT. The company is constructing a 10th fulfillment facility in Menasha.
