Banta Debuts Catalog Aid Centrus

BOSTON--In a move to help its clients dramatically cut catalog production time, Banta Integrated Media, Cambridge, MA, unveiled a new product that lets companies merge marketing production and sales information into a single easily accessible database.

Centrus, which was introduced at the catalog show here June 3, pools catalog copy and artwork into a database that also contains information such as product specifications and sales histories. By organizing the various types of information into a central location and an accessible format, catalogers can easily review details about a product's history when deciding where to lay it out on a catalog page. In addition, Centrus stores data in formats that allow it to be published in both a traditional catalog and on an Internet site.

"People involved in catalog production and in proofing cycles now have all the information up front, which leads to quicker production and much shorter proofing cycles," said Jeff Boldt, Centrus product manager.
