Band Signed After Strong Internet Demand

Farmclub.com/Interscope, Los Angeles, yesterday signed the rock band Fisher, after the band's songs had been played or downloaded nearly 3 million times over the last year. It is believed Fisher is the first act signed to a major label as a direct result of its Web marketing success. The group's debut album will be released on Farmclub.com/Interscope in August.

Fisher issued its debut indie album, "One," in April 1999. This month three of MP3.com's top 10 requested songs were by the band.
