Autobytel Forms Media Sales Division

Autobytel Inc., a leading network of online destinations that connects car shoppers with automakers and dealers, has launched a media sales division to better monetize the traffic it receives on its four Web sites.

The division will sell ad space to automakers and dealers, leveraging the estimated 4 million car shoppers that visit Autobytel.com, Autoweb.com, Carsmart.com and Autosite.com.

Autobytel claims to have generated about 4 percent of all new domestic vehicle sales nationwide. The United States last year accounted for $17 billion in vehicle sales.

The new media sales team will impress upon potential and existing advertisers the advantages of advertising on sites that attract shoppers in the mood to buy a vehicle.

Autobytel has 30 automakers and dealers as advertising clients. Overall, it serves an estimated 6,700 subscribing dealers and 29 global automakers.
