Austrian Named 2005 Lions Direct Jury Chief

The International Advertising Festival, also known as Cannes Lions, appointed Austrian agency executive Fred Koblinger as the 2005 Lions Direct jury president.


Koblinger is CEO of general ad agency BBDO Holding Austria and managing director of DM shop Palla Koblinger Proximity. A much-traveled speaker on DM, he was inducted this year into the Austrian Direct Marketing Association's Hall of Fame.


The 52nd Cannes Lions will be held June 19-25 in Cannes, France. More than 18,000 ads from the television/cinema, print, outdoor, online, radio and traditional direct categories are submitted yearly in the world's most prestigious ad contest.


British publisher and events organizer Emap Communications in August announced the $96.5 million purchase of the London-based Cannes Lions.
